HOMEWORK #4 (Due Wednesday Feb 1st)

1)VOICE OF AMERICA-  THE COSTA CONCORDIA

A. Vocabulary

1.     Study all the words and their definitions.

2.     Do the word find activity.

3.     Add these five words to your CVL: interfered, crisis, fleeing ,   rescuer, struck . Find two different forms for each of the words.  Write sentences for these words.

B.Listening Comprehension

4.  Listen  to the recording about the Costa Concordia  as you read along with the transcript. (See HW #3 for VOA listening information. Refer to the vocabulary words to help you understand the content. Be prepared to  take the class quiz  without using the article as reference.

2) DAILY STEP WEB-SITE

1.Choose a level that you are comfortable  with from the dailystep.com website.
 2.Follow the ten steps listed on the handout “How to  use the Audio lessons from DailyStep.com  (Best to do this with a partner!)
 3.Record this listening activity on your listening log.

How would you use this website to improve your vocabulary?

Be prepared to discuss the answers to these three questions on Monday.  Remember-think metacognitively! (Think about thinking, think about learning!)

2) Create a Quiz

a)Listen to the  following recording as you read the "transcript".

b) Choose some vocabulary words that are difficult and look up their meaning and their pronunciation.

c)Create a ten question quiz  about the content or the vocabulary of this listening.  Bring this quiz to class on Monday.  Your classmates will take the test.   Make the test challenging.  Make your classmates think!!!

3) Update your Class Vocabulary List

Add the words from Task #5 of the song "Firework"
